The City of East Peoria is looking to annex a small section of Tazewell County.
But some worry the transition from county lines to city might not be so smooth.
It would affect 140 properties in Highland Hills Estates, a subdivision behind Robien Elementary school.
One reason for the move? Water.
Sundale Utilities currently owns the pipes under the subdivision, but they're selling.
The City of East Peoria wants to buy and take over the water services but to do that it would have to annex that land into city limits.
And while the proposal could save homeowners money, some residents who are used to county living say are worried about being forced to adhere to city ordinances.
"We can have as many animals as we want out here. We aren't restricted to certain months out of the year for burning, so I can get rid of my brush . It's nice being out in the country," said Steve Thorson, a resident.
The council plans on having more listening sessions with the residents.
It is up for a vote in august.
