Those of you who rely on landline phones might have to come up with a new way to call your loved ones-- not to mention how to make emergency calls. AT&T has legislation on the table that would bring landline services to a halt.
Reports say the phone company wants to focus exclusively on wireless and internet based phone services. Just last week, lawmakers in Springfield overrode the governor's veto of the legislation. The communications director at the Citizens Utility Board says this law would eliminate landlines for about 1.2 million Illinoisans.
The board says before AT&T can get approval from the Federal Communications Commission, landline users can send a letter to Congress.
