PEKIN, Ill. (HOI) -- -

The Pekin Police Department is crediting concerned citizens on social media for the quick arrests of four people suspected of egging hundreds of vehicles.

Dakota Jack, Christopher Jack, Ryan Jack and a juvenile were arrested for criminal damage to property Sunday just three hours after the police posted a shoutout on their Facebook page. Police said the four egged more than 350 cars over the span of two weeks, mainly in the area near Hawthorne Ave., just off Sheridan Road on the east end of town.

Employees at the Pekin Walmart shared images and video of the suspects purchasing more than a hundred eggs. The police department shared the images of the suspects and their vehicle on Facebook, generating more than 1,300 shares and arrests within three hours of the initial post.

Many area police departments are increasingly using Facebook to ask for the public's help solving crimes.
