CENTRAL ILLINOIS, ILL. -- -

Arson investigators are getting some help from man's best friend.
Mazy is the latest addition to the arson investigation team in Campaign.
This 4 year old yellow lab comes all the way from Louisiana where she was trained to be an accelerated detection canine.
Mazy is one of the seven arson dogs in the state of Illinois and just the second arson dog in Central Illinois.
She has been trained to sniff out material that starts and enhances fires which help lead to quickly catching arsonist.

Shane Arndt is the Arson Investigator and Canine handler.

He said "The reliability on our samples are a lot better because they quickly narrow down where to take a sample at. So instead of just guessing where we need to take a sample at and taking a shot if it's there or not. We know for a fact that there is going to be something there and its going to come back positive."
State Farm has been sponsoring the Arson Dog Program since 1993.
