Suspect arrested in downtown Bloomington shooting

BLOOMINGTON, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Police have made an arrest in connection with a downtown Bloomington shooting last weekend.

Fredd Mitchell, 28, of Bloomington, was arrested Friday for aggravated discharge of a firearm in a public place, armed habitual criminal, and unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon in connection with the May 14 shooting on N. Main St. A 34-year-old man suffered non life-threatening gunshot wounds to his legs in the shooting. 

Officers from the Bloomington Police Department's vice, street crimes, K-9, criminal investigation division and patrol units were involved in a lengthy foot chase leading up to Mitchell's arrest.

Mitchell was taken to the McLean County Jail. No other suspects are being sought in connection with the shooting.
