Report: Twin Cities soldier killed in Afghanistan

Report: Twin Cities soldier killed in Afghanistan

Posted: Updated:

A local man is one of two Americans killed in Afghanistan Wednesday.

22-year-old Army Ranger Josh Rodgers died in the northeastern province of Afghanistan, the same area where the so called "mother of all bombs" or MOAB was dropped earlier this month in the fight against ISIS.

Rodgers graduated from Normal Community high school in 2013 -- where he played football and competed on the track team.

Two family members tell WEEK they got the news from the Defense Department last night and are still trying to process their grief.

A pastor for the Rodgers family tells us no decision has been made on funeral services yet.

We will continue to update this story as more details become available.
