No one is injured after a semi fire on Interstate 74 eastbound Tuesday morning.
The fire started around 10:15 a.m., when a semi hauling demolition debris became fully engulfed near the East Washington St. exit in East Peoria. The driver of the truck was able to disconnect from the trailer and escape to safety.
The Illinois State Police handled the incident while East Peoria firefighters extinguished the blaze. The Illinois Department of Transportation handled the road closure.
As of noon Tuesday, I-74 eastbound remains closed at E. Washington in East Peoria. Traffic is being rerouted through East Peoria. It is unknown when the interstate might reopen.
