Summer concerts expected to bring millions into Peoria-area economy

Posted: Updated:
PEORIA, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Summer concerts bring more than great music into a city. They also bring millions of dollars into the local economy.

The Peoria Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau predicts the 14 concerts making up the Bud Light Concert Series and Tailgate N' Tallboys Music Festival will bring more than $7 million into the Peoria area between May and September. Between 5,000 and 7,000 people are expected to attend each concert.

The calculations take food, retail, fuel, accommodations and entertainment options outside the concerts. The Bud Light Concert Series will bring bands like Skillet, Goo Goo Dolls, Cheap Trick, and KC and the Sunshine Band to the Peoria riverfront, while the country-themed Tailgate N' Tallboys brings in stars like Jake Owen, Turnpike Troubadours, and Kane Brown.
