Locals to receive Governor's Volunteer Service Award

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

Two local residents will receive an award from the governor for their outstanding volunteerism efforts during a ceremony in Springfield next week.

Roger Crawford of Washington will be a senior recipient of the Governor's Volunteer Service Award for his service to the American Cancer Society. Riley Moran of Peoria will receive a Youth Award for volunteering at the Neighborhood House.

Nearly 200 nominations total were received. April 23-29 is National Volunteer Week in Illinois. The reception will be at the Old State Capitol at 1 p.m. on April 25.
