Did you know that sexual assault in this country happens ever 98 seconds?
On this 12th day of Sexual Assault Awareness Month, the Center for Prevention of Abuse held a walk through Peoria, with participants holding signs and wearing teal.
They hope to open everyone's eyes about who is really at-risk of being violated.
"We would like everyone to know that sexual assault and sexual abuse can affect everyone. We see children being abused by people they know, adolescence, and adults. We even see seniors being abused by people that they know or in a long term care facility," said Julie Bowland with the center.
The center was joined by Bradley University Police, and SGT. Tiara Warrick from the U.S. Army Reserve.
