Local firefighters teamed up with Bradley students at a breakfast Saturday morning with the goal to educate people on the issue of residential fires.
Residents of the 6-1-6-0-4 zip code were invited to the breakfast, where they ate pancakes and discussed topics such as family evacuation plans and fire prevention. The students were working on their capstone project of tackling an issue in the Peoria area.
Bradley student Kaitlin Stone commented on her group's goal saying, "We are hoping to teach the communitiy that fire saftey and prevention is very important espically in a neighborhood such as this with older homes with famlies with children. So our goal for today is to have them take away a little more knowledge of fire saftey and prevention, and how they can keep themselves and their famlies safe."
Fire fighters were available to answer any questions, as well as help famlies sign up for smoke detectors.
