New potential graduation requirements for Peoria Public Schools

Posted: Updated:

New graduation requirements were proposed; nothing is official yet.

In order to raise the number of graduates they came up with three proposed options.

The first to drop the credits from 26 to 24 to graduate.

That would allow them to have flexible schedules. Giving students a free period to be tutored or have an internship.

Last would be, starting in 2020 they would drop class rank.

Instead of valedictorian and salutatorian they would have: cum laud, magna cum laud and summa cum laude.

They are distinguished by GPA's. Summa cum laude with the highest honor of having a GPA of 4.75 or higher.
