Gas prices are continuing to decline in Peoria, with a five cent per gallon drop last week.
GasBuddy.com reports a gallon of gas averaged $2.22 per gallon in Peoria last week. Prices are 28.4 cents higher than a year ago, but unchanged since last month. The national gas price average is $2.29 a gallon.
"As oil prices have hit a bit of a rough patch in the last two weeks, gasoline prices have stumbled as well with a majority of states seeing a weekly pull back in retail prices," said Patrick DeHaan, senior petroleum analyst for GasBuddy.com.
DeHaan predicts the drop in prices will be short-lived, with a major increase due around Memorial Day.
