CREVE COEUR, Ill. (WEEK) -- -

An Indianapolis man is in the Tazewell County Jail after a traffic stop led to a felony weapons arrest.

A Creve Coeur police officer pulled over a vehicle Sunday on I-474 around 5:30 p.m. for driving 99 miles per hour in a 70 miles per hour speed limit zone. Police said the driver said he had forgotten his license at home when asked.

Police soon discovered the man, 27-year-old Dominique Johnson, gave his wallet to a passenger in an attempt to avoid identification. A check of Johnson's driving status showed he was wanted in Indiana for unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

Johnson is awaiting extradition back to Indiana. In Tazewell County, he is charged with obstructing identification, driving with a suspended license and speeding in a 70 mph zone. The Tazewell County offenses are misdemeanors.
