The Feb. 28 primary election will narrow the field of candidates standing for two at-large seats on the Peoria City Council, and the District 4 spot.
Six candidates are on the ballot to serve two year terms as at-large candidates in the city of Peoria. Incumbent Sid Ruckriegel was appointed after Chuck Weaver resigned to become a state senator. An additional seat was left vacant after Ryan Spain was elected to the Illinois House.
Ruckriegel is on the ballot, as are candidates Robert Hanauer, Zach Oyler, John Kelly, Scott Kelsey and Amr Elsamny. Voters can either cast one vote each for two candidates or two votes for a single candidate.
Three candidates are also seeking the northwest Peoria district currently represented by Jim Montelongo. They include the incumbent, former police officer Mike Eddlemon and Benjamin Thornton, who works in marketing.
