Thousands have donated generously to this year's Salvation Army Tree of Lights campaign.
On Tuesday, grateful families used those donations to make their holidays brighter.
The Salvation Army Toy Shop in Peoria is funded by the yearly campaign.
At the shop, organizers say local families can shop with dignity for affordable toys and gifts.
It is one of many holiday activities funded by the Tree of Lights.
"My clients are homeless, and they are transitioning into permanent housing. To be able to have a program that helps them with toys and books means the world," said Shirley Carrol, a case manager at Peoria's Dream Center.
The goal for this years Tree of Lights campaign is $1,920,000.
