Budget cuts may reduce polling places in Peoria County.
Commissioners discussed the $78,000 budget cut Tuesday at their monthly meeting.
The Journal-Star reports one office employee is likely to be laid off, and the commission must cut about $30,000 in other expenses.
Nearly $20,000 of that comes from its funding for election judges.
Executive Director Tom Bride says a reduction of 20 polling places will reduce the need for roughly 140 election judges.
