Some lucky students got a much-deserved reward thanks to PNC Winterfest.
Members of Peoria Public Schools' 'Horizons Club' put in some extra effort throughout the school year, learning study skills and goal-setting techniques.
On Tuesday, a trip to the skating rink helped those hard-working kids let loose.
"They worked very hard all semester, so this is a huge reward for all the hard work they put in to some special programming," said Horizons Club Coordinator Trish O'Shaugnessy.
"Skating is really not my thing," said sixth grader Alex Jones.
"But the slide I would like to go on," he said.
"I love what they do. They provide for us, and I love it. That's what I love about them, and I wish to give back to them," said Jones.
Organizers say the goal of the Horizons Club is to help students make better, more informed choices throughout middle school and high school.
