PEORIA, Ill. -- Open less than a year, this cozy spot in Campus Town is already making a big impression on students... and just about everyone else who stumbles upon the vintage-inspired restaurant.
Aptly named "Little Raven" -- people are flocking in to see what's new.
"We are trying to do a few new things," said co-owner Laurie Reeves, who bought the restaurant with her son, Steven.
"We just introduced live music for the first time last Saturday night. We are going to start doing that maybe every Thursday night."
It is not really the music drawing in crowds, though- rather the huge variety of freshly made sandwiches and smoothies.
And if you've got a sweet tooth, prepare to have it satisfied here.
"Cake shakes are very popular," said Reeves.
"A person comes in and chooses their choice of baked fresh daily cupcakes or a brownie. We muddle that in a cup and add their choice of vanilla, swirl or chocolate ice cream. We add more cream into that ,and more cake or brownie bits. We whirl that all up and top it off with whipped cream and a cherry or strawberry."
It's so decadent, you might just need someone to share it with.
Sharing the word seems to be what's making this "little" restaurant soar.
"It seems to be getting more and more popular. People seem to like our friendly staff," said Reeves.
If you come to little raven- be sure to bring a big appetite.
Little Raven Creamery is located at 1200 W. Main Street in Peoria.
It is open seven days a week from 10:30 am to 9 pm.
