BARTONVILLE,IL--Some local students will soon get more chances to test their learning theories. This weeks One Class At A Time winner is building a science center.
Bartonville Grade School Teacher Amber Dudak's class size increased by about 10 percent this year. Now she has 27 students and is building a science center for her second graders.
"I been buying things with my own money, but a lot of science activities especially the ones that are big and cool that you need are always more expensive," she said.
Now she is getting some help with a one-thousand-dollar One Class At A Time grant from CEFCU and HOI News.
The school custodian Ed Russell nominated Dudak for the one class grant.
"She teaches girls basketball as well and assists Mr. Ingram with track in the Spring. So she's involved in the students lives both academically and athletically".
"She does a lot of cool science stuff, like math games," said Bartonville Grade School Second Grader Spencer Littlejohn.
