Gretchen Wirtz has been with HOI News since 2001, when she joined the station as Weekend Weather Anchor and Weekday Reporter. In 2004, Gretchen moved to HOI News Daybreak, where she does weather and anchors the news.
Gretchen grew up in Batavia, IL and went to college at Illinois State University. She also went to John Marshall Law School in Chicago and has worked in TV in Rapid City, South Dakota and Lansing, Michigan. Gretchen is a member of the Illinois News Broadcasters Association. She's also involved with the East Peoria Festival of Lights Queen Pageant, the Newcomers Club of Greater Peoria and the HOI News and CEFCU One Class At A Time Committee.
Gretchen has received several awards, including "40 Leaders Under Forty" and "25 Women in Leadership". She's also a lifetime honorary member of the Newcomer's Club of Greater Peoria and the Girl Scouts, Kickapoo Council.
When not working, Gretchen enjoys spending time with her husband, Greg, and her four step-daughters and five grand kids. Gretchen and Greg are also foster parents to a little 1 year old boy. Gretchen loves scrap booking, shopping, and Diet Coke. Her dream job would be to sit at the table with the ladies of "The View."
