Cub fans are already used to seeing one of their all time favorite players at O'Brien Field, but on Saturday they came to see someone not named Ryan Sandberg.

The line outside says it all. Fans lined up about two hours before the first pitch, and when the gates opened they chanted "Ron Santo...Ron Santo"

It became pretty clear who they were here to see

It was an afternoon for the fan favorite to speak to the faithful.

And in John Nelson's case, a chance to get one signature closer.

Ferguson Jenkins, Billy Williams, Ernie Banks....

To have his picture inked by all the living Cubbies Hall of Famers...

"We know Santo is going to make it into the hall of fame sooner or later so.."

So in John's case, all the more necessary to get that signature now.

"That's my favorite picture of Wrigley Field"

And to get a picture with the great one.

Nelson said, "I have high hopes of him becoming a Hall of Famer I'm trying to think of a nice way of putting this... I think he deserves to be in the Hall of Fame."

But as far as the picture goes...there's one more Cubbie left.

"I'm gonna get Ryan Sandberg this summer..."

This was the first time that Nelson ever met Santo. John says he's been following the Cubs for 50 years. Like other Cubs fans, he too hasn't given up hope on a World Series title.
