Nnamani and US Women advance to Semis

By WEEK Sports

Normal U-High grad Ogonna Nnamani and the U.S. women's volleyball team beat Italy in five sets to advance to the semifinals.

Nnamani didn't play in Tuesday's quarterfinal against Italy but she did play a big role in the USA's win on Sunday against Poland.

The United States got off to a slow start but prevailed 20-25, 25-21, 19-25, 25-18, 15-6 over the Italians Tuesday night.

The U.S. team will face a tough challenge with Cuba, who remained undefeated in Beijing with a three-set victory over Serbia earlier Tuesday.

The U.S. team has lost just one of six matches so far. That loss came to Cuba

Brazil plays China in the other semifinal on Thursday.
