The Bloomington Extreme will host the first ever–professional playoff game in the Twin Cities next week.
Their opponent in the Eastern Conference Finals is familiar but the day it'll be played is something new.
The Bloomington Extreme and the River City Rage know each other very well.
When they play for the Eastern Conference Championship it will be the fourth time the two times will have met this season.
Extreme head coach Kenton Carr said, "St. Louis, It's almost starting to become a rivalry with these guys. I know that they are going to be jacked up coming here. We know what they do and they know what we do it's basically who wants it more."
The Extreme won the first two games but River City won the last meeting thanks in part to an addition to their offense.
Carr said, "They have a new quarterback. I knew that they could be a good team if they had a good quarterback and now they do. I think they've won the last 4 out of 5 games."
Extreme Defensive Back A.J. Bryant said, "It's very rare that a team gets swept so for them to get their win that's understandable. They did some coaching; they changed some things but were not trying to sweep them. We just want to beat them three times in the series."
The western conference will crown their champion on Saturday night at the same time over 7,000 Jehovah's witnesses will be on the field at the U.S. Cellular coliseum making the Rage and Extreme wait to get ready for some football until Monday Night.
Carr said, "It's Monday night football so how can you not be jacked up for Monday Night football. I didn't care what night it was. We're excited about hosting a playoff game here anyways but I don't care what night it is. Saturday night or Monday night."
Bryant said, "Monday night is all about football. The NFL has promoted that well, Monday Night Football, so I guess it'll be different for us."
