We got our first glimpse of Cliff Anderson's wheels last week. Anderson lifted a long fly ball into a stiff breeze, and it was off to the races. His second career inside–the–park home–run.

"The wind was blowing in pretty hard and I just hit it right where the guy couldn't get it," Anderson said. "You've gotta hit it in the right spot and I just kept running. My wheels took over I guess."

We've seen Anderson show off his speed in the outfield too, making a couple of defensive gems in the outfield...but surprisingly, Anderson says speed isn't what got him noticed by pro scouts.

"Actually I got drafted off of my hitting. I was probably below (average) defensive player. I worked hard, I worked real hard and that's one of my strong points right now. My bat will come. It's cold and I know my bat will come. I'm just trying to be a complete player."

"He's a guy that gives you a real good effort almost every time he's on the field and that's what I like about him," said Chiefs manager Ryne Sandberg. "He's earned a spot to be in the line–up quite a bit so far this season, so he's done a good job for us."

Anderson comes by his talent naturally. His father played football at BYU and for the Los Angeles Rams. His brother will play college football and he had two sisters who played college softball.

"Yeah, I'm pretty gifted. My family's pretty gifted. Dad's always told me you've gotta work hard and I've already found that out. Baseball don't come just from talent. (sic)"
