One person who watched last night's game with a special interest was ISU Head Coach Tim Jankovich.
There may not be a bigger Jayhawk fan in Central Illinois.

Tim Jankovich was on the edge of seat Monday Night as Kansas found themselves down nine points with just over two minutes left against Memphis.

ISU Head Coach and former Kansas assistant Tim Jankovich said, "Like everybody, when a game turns and you feel like it's over you start to do the exercises to make yourself feel better. It was a terrific run and amazing to get here."

But when Mario Chalmers hit a three with just over 2 seconds left Jankovich and the rest of the Kansas Contingent went wild.

Jankovich said, "Pandemonium. As if the game was over. It was a tie when he hit that shot but you would of thought for all the world that the national championship, the reaction was that of we had just won the national championship."

Chalmers former coach wasn't surprised that he took and made that shot.

Jankovich said, "Mario has always been we've said this so many times even when he was a freshman his make–up is his heart rate never changes. He's got ice water in his veins."

Even though Jankovich wasn't on the Jayhawk bench Monday Night he did help recruit many of the Kansas players during his four years as an assistant and he still feels part of the family.

Jankovich said, "You start out in coaching you dream that maybe one day you can play for a national championship and win one. To actually of been involved not this year but to be a part of that organization is pretty powerful stuff."
