The Manual Rams play Woodruff Friday.
There's a new level of excitement around the football team at the redesigned school.
There's a new attitude in the classrooms at Manual High School.
Manual Senior WR Darrion McKinney said, "The kids seem to be more respectful of the teachers and their peers. They pay attention in class more."
And on the field.
Manual Sr. WR/CB Kaleb Powe said, "When we get out here we are real serious about football. We try to get as serious as we can. We just come out here and do our best to just play football."
As part of the restructuring at Manual all of the teachers were required to reapply for their jobs including Head Coach Dan Fauser who's been at the school for 23 years.
Manual head coach Dan Fauser said, "I've had opportunities over the years to leave and go other places but I've chose to stay. I'm here to the end I've got seven more years left and this is where I want to see a change. I'm a Manual Person."
It isn't just a new school with a new attitude here at Manual, there are new students too. Senior transfer Kaleb Powe comes to the Rams from Mississippi where he won a state title and in 2 years of Varsity football lost only one game.
Fauser said, "It's too bad he's a senior because he's a great kid who has had great success at the high school where he came from and he came right in playing both ways. He's a great leader in fact he's one of the team captains."
Powe said, "I try to do my part, I play my position, I try to help others. I tell them to just play their position don't worry about it and we're going to make it there."
