Hail to the Knight

By WEEK Sports

On Tuesday Nights Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis sits in City Hall presiding over City Council. On Friday's he's in the stands at Richwoods cheering on his son Danny as he plays fullback for Knights.

Peoria Mayor Jim Ardis said, "It’s really exciting. I spent a lot of time watching my brothers do that years ago and to watch one of my sons do that is really exciting."

And while Dad runs the city of Peoria,
Danny just runs, and runs, and runs.

Richwoods Full Back Danny Ardis said, "Definitely, credit to the offense line. Once you find the hole you just have to stick with it and you can’t be indecisive with it. You just have to go with it. I’m not really a fancy runner I just like to put the load on my shoulders and get what yards I can."

Many politicians are accused of changing their position when it comes to the issues. Danny says he has no political aspirations at all. But he has changed his position on one thing. You see last year he was the Knight’s starting tight end.

Richwoods coach Dave Lang said, "He just came in this summer and announced his intention that he wanted to be full back and he’s been the best one so far. So it wasn’t a hard decision to make."

Danny said, "I’ve always wanted to play full back. You know full back at Richwoods is you know it’s full back at Richwoods. It always seemed fun to me a lot of carries, always in the game, I like that part of it."

Jim Ardis said, "When Lee does the highlights on Friday he’s always saying there’s the mayor’s son Danny Ardis. But Danny is made his own name for the things that he’s accomplished and I’m proud of him."
