Washington Heads to State

The Washington Panthers earn a trip to the 3A Final Four with a 56-40 win over Sterling in the DeKalb Supersectional Tuesday night.

Washington jumped out to a 13-0 lead, holding the Golden Warriors scoreless for the first 7:15 of the game. Ben Worner scored 11 of his 15 points in the first half, as the Panthers took a 23-15 lead at halftime.

Sterling had cut the Washington lead to 5 with time running out in the 3rd quarter when Indiana signee Matt Roth buried a three-pointer at the buzzer. The Panthers never looked back, leading by as many as 20 in the fourth quarter.

The Panthers face Chicago Marshall at noon Friday in Carver Arena. Marshall defeated North Chicago 84-54 in the Hoffman Estates Supersectional.
