September 1: Construction Brake

By Jeff Muniz

Thanks to Labor Day, drivers get a slight break in this week's Construction Brake. While there's no roadwork Monday, drivers should expect the barrels back as they head to work Tuesday.

In Peoria, crews will be adding a paved bike lane to on Howett and Lincoln Avenues. That's also Illinois Route 116. So, expect lane closures from Adams to Griswold until the end of October.

Nearby on Southwest Washington Street, crews will close a lane on just Tuesday at Sanger for sewer work.

In Tazewell County, expect lane reductions at the intersection of Route 9 and 29 in Pekin. Crews will work until mid-November and then again next spring and summer to replace the pavement there.

In Morton, expect lane closures on Route 98 or Birchwood between Detroit and Erie. The work will last until the end of the month.

And, on the ISU campus in Normal, University Street will close on Tuesday. The closure between Hale and Dry Grove Streets will last for at least two years as a new student rec center is built.

Drive carefully and watch out for those orange barrels.
