Democrat Enters 106th State Representative Race

The Democratic candidate for 106th State Representative says change is his top campaign theme. And Tom Shrier wants that change to start with him.

Friday, Shrier officially announced he is taking on Republican Representative Keith Sommer in the 106th.

"I see a lot of people say Keith Sommer has not done anything in the ten years that he has been in office, that he's a very quiet voice in Springfield. I plan to be a more active voice, especially for the constituents of the 106th, especially for working people," said Shrier.

Shrier says passing a capital spending plan and school funding would be among his key issues.

Shrier lives in Morton. He is a Mitsubishi Motors employee as well as the financial secretary for United Auto Workers Local 2488.

The 106th Legislative District includes Tazewell, Woodford, McLean, Livingston and LaSalle Counties.
