On the national level, Democrats Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton split delegates.

While Republican John McCain is closer to securing his party's nomination.

Neither Barack Obama nor Hillary Clinton is proclaiming an overall victory on Super Tuesday.

Obama won 12 states in cluding Illinois. Clinton won eight, including California and leads in the early count of delegates.

Meanwhile, Republican John McCain has seized command of the race for the GOP Presidential nomination, winning delegate rich primaries from the East Coast to California.

State Representative Aaron Schock remains unbeaten in his young political career.

The 26year-old Schock wins the GOP nomination for the 18th Congressional District.

With an overwhelming victory over Jim McConoughey and John Morris, Schock advances to the November election.

The 18th Congressional seat is being vacated by Ray Lahood who is stepping down after seven terms.

Democrat Jehan Gordon hopes to step into Schock's 92nd District legislative position. In a race decided by 362 votes, Gordon is the Democratic primary winner, beating Allen Mayer. She faces Republican Joan Krupa in the fall.

New schools are in the future if Normal's Unit five school district. This after voters approve two referendum questions. One asking for 96 million dollars in bonds--the other asking for a hike in the education fund to cover operating expenses.

Two new elementary schools, a new middle school, renovations, security and technology are all part of the grand plan. It'll cost the owner of a $200,000 home about $170 a year in taxes.

In the U.S. Senate primary, Republican Doctor Steve Sauerberg advances to face Democratic incumbent Dick Durbin in the fall.

In the 11th Congressional race, Tim Baldermann advances in a quest to fill the seat vacated by Jerry Weller.

Incumbent Democrat Mike Smith wins his 91st legislative district primary race.

In the 38th State Senate race, Democrat Steve Stout advances to face Republican State Senator Gary Dahl of Granville.

Incumbent Peoria County Auditor Carol Van Winkle can count an overwhelming number of Democratic votes in her primary win.

And Johnna Ingersoll's bid to keep her Peoria County Coroner's job is alive and well, thanks to a big Republican primary win over George Blackburn.

Former Knox County States Attorney Paul Mangieri is a set closer to becoming a Judge.

The Democrat win his primary battle in the 9th Judicial Circuit.

Voters in Morton will pay an extra nickel in their tax rate to fund a four million dollar bond issue for a new swimming pool.

Republican David Zimmermann is the top primary vote getter in the Tazewell County Board Chairman's race.

And finally a tight race for Knox County Sheriff.

Democrat David Clague advances to the November general election to face Republican Gary Rynes, who manages to eake out a win over Curtis Kramer.

Earlier today, Democratic Party Chairman Billy Halstead told News 25. Judge Richard Grawey will not be running against Schock. He said the seat is still open, but they have time to fill it.
