News 25's Jeff Muniz shows us why Peoria drivers won't even need to turn on the radio to get election results.

Pull up to the intersection of University and Glen and gaze up. The 12 by 25 foot electronic billboard will display constantly changing election results.

One driver, Nichole Nash, said, "I think that's great. I mean I really don't watch a whole lot of TV so looking up at a billboard is a great way to keep up with what's going on."

Those on the road will see results from the Presidential races and the 18th District Republican race.

Michael Keck with Adams Outdoor Advertising said, "This particular idea is an offshoot of the Amber Alert and the other public service on the boards in what else can we provide to the community that would be of interest. And frankly, we're not upset that it does call attention to the boards and people look at them. It's good for us and our advertisers."

Adams Outdoor Advertising installed the quarter-million dollar plus billboard back in August.

There's a second electronic sign at War Memorial and University.

The bright lights and a new advertiser every ten seconds has come with some controversy.

The city passed an ordinance where the sign must have a static message.

Peoria Planning Director Pat Landes said, "We didn't want the motorist sitting there or driving down the road watching copy that was moving."

Drivers downtown do actually get to watch video at the Peoria Civic Center. The city says it's a different ordinance because downtown is a business and entertainment district.

"The signage in an entertainment, business district has always been different. So, you'll see more lights, flashing lights, movement because it creates a certain image and it's a confined area."

While the signs may be new, Adams Outdoor Advertising says businesses are giving them a vote of confidence by buying more ad space.

So, keep an eye out for more of the electronic signs in Peoria and East Peoria.
