That after questions were raised about Gordon's academic credentials.

[In the ad, former State Senator George Shadid said, "She went to school at local schools in Peoria and she graduated from the University of Illinois."

Jehan Gordan says she has faced scrutiny lately over this radio advertisement because she is actually three credits shy of a degree...despite having participated in the pomp and circumstance of graduation day.

"I participated in the graduation ceremony but I have not had my degree conferred. It will be conferred in spring...when I was in school I paid for it myself and it just got too expensive," said Gordon on Thursday.

Gordon says she is currently enrolled in an individual study course in finite math to obtain the last three credits she needs.

"I did not just take the class because I'm running for office. Central to my campaign is education. So, I know the importance of ensuring I'm educated as well," said Gordon.

Despite the openness about her education, Gordon has had her academic records at the University of Illinois sealed for confidentiality—making it difficult to verify her academic credentials.

"When I was in Champaign and I was living in Champaign, the records were sealed because of a situation I was in. I was in a relationship and I was told that I ought to have my records sealed," said Gordon.

Former Senator George Shadid says he was reading from a script in the radio ad and says it can easily be changed. He says he plans to continue supporting Gordon.

"Absolutely I'm going to take it off because what I'd like to do is get back to the point where we can talk about the issues as it relates to the 92nd district," said Gordon.

Gordon says she was not responsible for writing the radio advertisement.
