A big bus stopped in Bloomington today to give voters the facts on candidates for the 18th Congressional, Presidential and thousands of other races.
The 45-foot Project Vote Smart vehicle parked on the Illinois Wesleyan University campus for five hours today.
Inside the bus, there are laptops and manuals where voters can check out the records of more than 40-thousand candidates for federal and state offices.
Project Vote Smart's J.J. Clemens said, "Just the facts. Kind of get away from the often manipulative and deceptive campaigns that a lot of candidates run today. Just give the voters the facts on candidates, they're voting records, campaign finance information, special interest group endorsements and a database of all their speeches and public statements as well so you can see where the candidates really stand on the issues."
Project Vote Smart is in its 16th year and is mainly funded by its 48,000 members and non-partisan groups like the Carnegie Foundation.
No money comes from political parties or organizations that lobby.
