Crash Kills Father & Injures Children

By Jeff Muniz

Illinois State Police are investigating a crash in Livingston County that killed a Fairbury father and injured his four children.

The crash happened on Old US Route 66 in Eppards Point Township around five o'clock Friday evening.

Authorities say the driver, 39 year old Brian Rayburn of Fairbury, veered into the other lane of traffic and crashed into an oncoming semi–tractor trailer.

Police say Rayburn was wearing a seat belt and it took first responders 25 minutes to extricate him from the minivan.
He was life–flighted to OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria where he died in the emergency room at eight o'clock Friday night.
An autopsy today shows Rayburn died from multiple injuries.
His children, which range from three to 12–years old, sustained non life threatening injuries in the crash.
