September 29: Construction Brake

By Jeff Muniz

A section of Interstate 74 is slated to close while a week of paving will cause problems for drivers on one of Peoria's most popular streets.
Here are the details in this week's Construction Brake.

It looks like a busy week of work on North University Street between Glen and Northmoor. Drivers should expect one lane of traffic as crews start paving the street. All new lanes should be laid by the end of the week.

Then on next Sunday, October 5th, drivers should note Westbound Interstate 74 will be closed at the top of the hill in East Peoria.
Crews are replacing beams on the Pinecrest Drive overpass.

Westbound drivers will be forced to use the Pinecrest ramps to get off and then back on Interstate 74 while this work goes on. IDOT is scheduled to close the Eastbound lanes the next Sunday, October 12th.

Drive carefully and watch out for those orange barrels.
