Work on railroad tracks closes the track to work for many drivers in the Peoria area. Here are the details in this week's Construction Brake.
Starting Friday, the railroad tracks on West Washington Street in East Peoria are getting replaced. That means Washington will be closed near the downtown Police and Fire Department through Thursday, September 18th.
Also, road repairs on Centennial Drive are underway. So, if you're heading to ICC from Route 116 expect delays on the hill. This work should wrap up by early October.
In Peoria, the final touches of paint on those peeling trusses will be put on Monday. Westbound 74 from Gale to Sterling will be down to one lane until Monday afternoon.
Meanwhile, putting new pavement on Knoxville has moved construction crews up to the Pioneer Parkway intersection. Expect slow-going in both directions for another two weeks.
And in Peoria County, Lancaster Road is closed between Pfeiffer and Cameron Lane. Lancaster should re-open in late fall.
Those taking to the interstate should note southbound I-39 near El Paso will have roadwork and lane closures thru late October.
