State Budget Woes Hit Local Parks, Landmarks

By WEEK Producer

The Blagojevich administration announced Thursday it's laying off 73 employees of the Illinois Historic Preservation Agency and the Department of Natural Resources.
That means the closure of thirteen state historic sites by October first.
Eleven state parks close November first.

Locally that list includes the David Davis Mansion in Bloomington, Jubilee College, The State Center at Bishop Hill, Carl Sandburg's birthplace in Galesburg...
Also; Moraine View State Park in Leroy, Weldon Springs State Park in Clinton, and Illini State Park in Marseilles.
Meanwhile State Representative Dan Brady says he will continue to fight to keep the David Davis Mansion open.

All polition say great dreams they have when they get into office.Only because of some of those politions,do I not believe a word they say.On the other hand, I didn't vote for Mr.Blagojevich.This year I won't vote for McCain or Obama.Instead I will vote for Obamas running mate.

The closing of our State Parks is absolutely unforgivable. People should be outraged. With the price of gas as it is, out state parks are a wonderful resource that can offer recreation, peacefulness, enjoyment of wildlife, without having to travel far. I hope everyone who has ever enjoyed time at a park will write the Governer and let him know what a horrible mistake he is making.

HE IS JUST LIKE THE REST OF THEM. MAYBE NOT ALL OF THEM ARE LIKE THIS BUT A LOT OF THEM ARE......ALL OF THEM WILL SAY WHAT PEOPLE WANT TO HEAR THEN WHEN THEY ARE ELECTED THEY DO WHATEVER THEY WANT. THAT IS NOT FAIR TO THE PEOPLE THAT BELIEVED IN WHAT THEY SAY. THAT GOES FOR OBAMA AND MCCAIN ALSO..

Once again a Chicago based politician does it again to downstate. The full list does NOT include anything within 75 miles of Cook county. At least he kept the Illinois political reputation alive. If you wnt to know what that is, just ask someone from Wisconsin, Iowa, Indiana, etc. Hey, are the roads kept mowed by Rods house???

There is a tax on all of our duck stamps, fishing and huntinc license, etc. that GoBlow wants to tap into and he cant have it to due an act that was to prevent this sort of thing. I believe it was the Pittman act, not sure. This is his way of making people (park employees, parks, public education, etc.)suffer until he gets what he wants. I think 20/20 should investigate this creep of a politian. What goes around comes around.
