East Peoria High Showcases Additions

By WEEK Producer

An 8–and–a–half–million–dollar addition is on the way for East Peoria High School...
But some parents are still concerned...

Concerned parents of students who go to East Peoria High School came to get answers Thursday night and school officials were ready.

Superintendent Cliff Cobert showed parents what they could expect to see in coming years.
The project will be done in three phases, the first starting soon after Labor Day.
Cobert says the project will implement future technology.
But concerned residents say the project will affect the school's surrounding neighborhood.

"I live on Harding Boulevard first and for most so the whole renovation's going to greatly effect my household and I have students there so I'm very interested in just architecture and how it's going to affect the school," said East Peoria resident Tamara Weller.

"It will be state of the art. It will be built for technology built for education in the 21st century and it'll be much different that the classes that are currently being held," said Cobert.

The oldest part of the school dates back to 1922.
That area will be replaced in 2010 to hold new PE facilities.

2010 is the same year the first phase of the project is expected to be completed.
It will feature a brand new cafeteria, kitchen, and additional classrooms.
School officials invite viewers like you to see a ground breaking ceremony for the project in front of the school along Harding Boulevard, starting Friday morning at 10:30.
