Woman Killed and a Boy Injured After Domestic Dispute

By Gina Ford

A domestic dispute turned deadly in Normal overnight.

One woman is dead...her son injured and a suspect is in custody after a stabbing on Sheryl Lane.

Investigators say 34-year-old Angel A. Neal died and her 16-year-old son was hurt when the victim's estranged boyfriend allegedly stabbed them.

Late this morning, police were still investigating the downstairs apartment where the incident occurred.

46-year-old Dennis McMillian was arrested at the scene, and police say he and the victim had a tumultuous relationship.

"From what we can tell there was a relationship between the suspect and the victim. An on-again, off-again type of relationship.
We're uncertain exactly what stage that was at last night, but we understand that was the case between the two" said Normal Police Chief Kent Crutcher.

Both victims were taken to BroMenn Regional Medical Center where Angel Neal died.

Her son is hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries, and Normal Police are not sure what triggered the dispute.

McMillian is in the McLean County jail awaiting formal charges.

News 25 spoke to a neighbor and friend of the victim today who says shortly after the incident occurred, Neal's 16-year-old son, bleeding from stab wounds, rushed to the neighbor's home for help.
The woman also says Neal had an order of protection against McMillian, but recently tried to reconcile with him.
