Fellow officers, family and friends are paying their final respects Tuesday night to a Peoria Police Sergeant who died last week. The visitation for Phil Fisher from 5 to 8 p.m. at Northwoods Community Church.
Meanwhile, black bows adorn the front of the Peoria Police Department's headquarters downtown. The 54–year–old Fisher had worked for the department since 1980 covering almost all beats.
"The big teddy bear. He was big in stature and a softy on the inside. He was just the type of person everyone hopes would be your neighbor and friend. And, he was that to a lot of people," said Officer Ann Ruggles.
An autopsy shows Sergeant Fisher had heart related issues when he collapsed and died after working at the Peoria County Courthouse on Friday.
His funeral is Wednesday at Northwoods Community Church. An educational fund has been set up for Fisher's grandchildren at the First Bank on North Sterling in Peoria.
