Girl Dies In ATV Accident

By Emily West

Tazewell County Authorities are investigating the death of an 11 year old South Pekin Girl. Larisa Wilder was a passenger of an ATV on Friday when it flipped in rural Manito.

The Peoria County Coroner says Wilder was one of three occupants on the all terrain vehicle. Wilder was pronounced dead at OSF St. Francis Medical Center's intensive care unit at five Friday evening, reportedly about three hours after the crash occurred.

The coroner says the ATV was slowly traveling on a hill when it overturned. The Coroner also says Wilder suffered multiple injuries in the crash.

to LP: it was no one's fault so you need to stop saying the adult driving the vehicle should have more common sense! i know all 3 of those people. the adult is very nice and had no idea that would happen! can you imagine the guilt? cut him some slack! the girl riding that did not die is my best friend and she is a great person! the girl who died was my best friend and we all love her!

Nice story about East Peoria's new riverfront development. Some 42 families in the Richland Bottoms have been given 30 day notices to move out because that area will be demolished October 3. The families are being given names of shelters.

MY THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS R WITH BOTH FAMILIES DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME

Please don't say harsh things about the parent involved - this was a true ACCIDENT. the father of the friend was trying to be safe and responsible - he has enough grief to bear w/o the addition of people being negative. put yourself in his shoes right now. don't you think he is hurting enough??

Indeed this is a tragedy and our Prayers are certainly with everyone in both families. However in a situation like this how dare people be so quick to make assumptions when they have No idea of the facts only what the paper states. The ATV that was in question is designed for more than 1 person. You should be saying prayers instead of acusations, your acusations will not bring Larisa back.

Little Larissa is in God's hands now and she is happier than ever, rest assured. God's grace is sufficient for all of us no matter what. Look to the Lord for comfort and he will provide. Ask and you shall receive. In my prayers.

How sad the loss of a child can be! There are no words that we can express that can make this any better. Just know that Larisa is with God now and resting in his arms! My boyfriend works with Mike Grogan who is the paternal grandparent of Larisa. My prayers go out to everyone in each of the families that are involved in this tragedy.

My heart breaks for this family. I have a daughter the same age, and I just cannot imagine the grief they must be going through. Makes me want to go home right now, grab my daughter, and give her a big bear hug!

My heart and prayers go out to the family! You will be in my thoughts! There are reason the owners manuals state ATV are one person only.
