$13,000 Missing from Historical Society

The Peoria Historical Society's bank account is $13,000 lighter and their most recent employee is now missing.

Records are indicating check forgery and unauthorized use of an ATM card.

Police are investigating.

The Peoria Historical Society says to safeguard all further funds and properties, it has changed locks, passwords and security. It has also cancelled credit cards and accounts.

Why is it that people feel compelled to steal money from the community? It's real peachy that they steal from non-profit things like the historical society, cemetary association, and other community sponsored/ran/organized groups. It makes me sick! We need to start nailing these people hard, regardless of any prior record or lack there of. They need to be forced to serve their communities for free to pay back what they took.
