Fans hoping to see the new Batman sequel at a Bloomington movie theater had a dark night because of a power failure. The outage just before seven Friday night hit parts of Bloomington including the Galaxy 14 Cine movie theater, disappointing hundreds of moviegoers with tickets to a 7:10 opening-day showing of ``The Dark Knight.''

Leroy Chambers of Bloomington told the Associate Press, two teenagers did a finger puppet show on the screen for about 30 minutes, improvising dialogue for Batman and Joker before ushers cleared the theater.

Ameren spokesman Leigh Morris says the outage was caused by an equipment failure.

"The Dark Knight'' set a single-day box office record by taking in more than $66 million on opening day.
