Fatal Crash on I-474

By WEEK Producer

An accident on I–474 claims the life of a Canton man.
The accident occurred just after 3–30 today.
Jeffrey Reed of Canton was traveling east on 474.
For an unknown reason, Reed's 94 Toyota Camry went off the road and into a ditch, then came back on and Reed's driver side was struck by a semi.
Peoria County Coroner Johnna Ingersoll pronounced Reed dead at the scene.
The driver of the semi, Edward Huacuja Jr. from Louisiana, was taken to OSF St. Francis with non–life threatening injuries.

How can u people be so rude and it's sad that none of ya have anything better to do than to sit around and say cruel things that can affect others. Some the mean things in this world people talk about I just don't understand how people can do that. I pray for u all.

I read this article when it was originally posted, his name was not mentioned in the article. Generally speaking, the police do not release to the media a persons name until after the family is notified. If his name was released go blame the police, not the media.

My thoughts and prayers go out to the family. I am so sorry his wife had to see this on the news before she was notified by the Sheriff. May this be a lesson to all of us who are guilty of staring as we pass an accident scene...real people and real emotions are involved and how would we want our loved ones treated in the same type of situation
