In these tough economic times, many people are looking not only for extra money, but also some advice.

METEC is one of the local community development groups that provides that advice.

Thursday, the topic was credit and how it can affect almost every aspect of a person's financial life.

"A lot of people will not come out because they're a little embarrassed because 'I did not qualify for a loan...what do I do?' And a lot of them just leave it. So, this is a great way just to get there...know what your options are and just come out," said Cheryll Boswell, METEC Executive Director.

METEC is holding seminars every Thursday in July on different financial matters at the Peoria Public Library.

Next week July 24th, they'll be talking about bankruptcy.
