Hoping to prevent gun violence, Governor Blagojevich signed a new law he hopes will help keep guns away from minors.

The newly signed bill increases potential penalties for providing firearms to a person under the age of 18.

Under the legislation, if the minor uses the gun to commit a felony,
Than the adult who sold or gave the gun to the minor will be eligible to be sentenced in the same class as the highest crime for which the minor is charged.
