Bloomington Man Drowns Fixing Sump Pump

By Jeff Muniz

An autopsy today shows a rural Bloomington man drowned while trying to repair a leaking sump pump. The McLean County Coroner is still investigating why the man collapsed into the hole and if he had any medical problems.

Sixty-four-year-old Gary Savage died Thursday afternoon after he fell into a hole partially filled with water outside his home. Authorities believe no foul play is involved.

The coroner's office is also awaiting forensic toxicology tests, which could take four to six weeks.
