A passer by reported a seeing a man walking with a rifle outside company's corporate main building.

Employees inside State Farm's Corporate Building learned a lesson about their company today: They're ready to handle emergency situations.

The building was set on lockdown at just after 4PM.
Someone called the police about a suspicious man with a rifle outside the building.

That man turned out to be something else...

Bloomington Police Spokesman Dave White said, "Where this person said that the person they thought had a long gun, the video shows it was maintenance outside and of them had a piece of pipe or what appeared to be a piece of pipe and pulled over it up over his shoulder."

Workers were locked in the building's basement for nearly an hour and a half.
Meanwhile officers from surrounding areas in addition to the SWAT team and even Homeland Security searched the facility thoroughly and did not find an intruder.

State Farm Corporate Media Relations Manager Fraser Engerman said, "People were very concerned what you have people getting ready to leave fore today then be told they had to stop that's unnerving and not knowing, but we were able to communicate as quickly as we could to out employees in the building."

Even though the report was a false alarm members of State farm's main corporate office say the incident, insured the building's safety.

Engerman added, "We learn from every situation and we will probably learn from this situation and in the future make our emergency plans even better than before."

State Farm Employee Valerie Demry said, "I mean you want to make sure that you're safe so you're glad your employers watch out for you and take care of everything."

Employers were allowed to leave the building after police said...

"It was a false alarm..."

Area police and members of the SWAT team surrounded the outside State Farm's main campus as other officials searched the building floor by floor.
Employees at State Farm's Corporate South and Great Lakes Operations Center were sent home before the employees on the main campus.

I WOULD WANT THE PERSON WHO REPORTED THEY SEEN A GUN IN THIS PERSONS HAND TO GET THEIR EYES CHECKED. IF I WAS IN CHARGE OF THE CITY I WOULD BE SENDING STATE FARM A HUGH BILL FOR THE TIME SPENT AWAY FROM "REAL" CRIME. STATE FARM CAN AFFORD IT..THEY CHARGE A TON FOR INSURANCE OF ANY KIND...WAKE UP OVER THERE......

I also think it's funny. On the otherhand, I think it's sad when you can't even carry a pipe without someone calling Homeland Security.
